Spelling Words: one two red blue fish
**Spelling test on Friday, March 1st
Homework: Read at least 15 minutes each night, Monday-Thursday and complete reading log every night.
***We are practicing test-taking behaviors during our spelling tests. This includes keeping our eyes on our own papers and not disrupting others. If our classroom rules during spelling tests are broken, students' papers are taken and those students receive a zero. These behaviors are expectations that the students are aware of and that they will use throughout their school careers.
We are going to cut down on the number of words tested each week to only 5 words. These words are from the Dolch pre-primer sight word list and are some of the most frequently used words in print.
Please practice these words at home until your child feels comfortable with them. Here are some ideas to practice the words:
yo
you
- rainbow write in any color
- bubble letter write
- spell aloud with silly voices
- Play Sparkle with family members (Stand in a circle and spell the words one at a time, after the word is complete, the next person says "Sparkle" and the following person sits down and is out.)
- create words out of play dough
- pyramid write, ex: "you"
yo
you
- Use words in a sentence
- Tally words that you find in nightly reading and find the "winner"
